All options were on the table when we started looking into how we can improve the way we manage biosolids.

In case you didn’t know, biosolids are a by-product from the wastewater treatment process. They contain Nitrogen, Phosphorous and organic Carbon. Of the 6,000 tonnes of biosolids we produce each year, about 70% are used for agricultural pasture improvement, and 30% for mine site rehabilitation.

It’s possible that in the near future there will be more efficient ways to process and beneficially reuse biosolids. We are currently investigating what technologies are becoming available and how other utilities in
