Consultation has concluded
Hunter Water will soon be undertaking some construction work in Mayfield. A replacement stormwater culvert is being constructed in Albert, Fitzroy and Bourke Streets. The original culvert in this position was approximately 100 years old and is being replaced.
Construction of the new culvert will begin in Albert Street (near the corner of Cadell Ave) and move along Albert Street toward Fitzroy Street, then along Fitzroy Street and into Bourke Street (up until the intersection with Texas Street).
Work is expected to begin in mid September 2018 and will take approximately 18 weeks to be completed.
This page will soon be updated to provide you with current information about the project and how traffic will be managed.
If your home is located close to where construction will be occurring, Hunter Water and our contractor will contact you to discuss this.
Diona Civil Engineering is completing the construction work on behalf of Hunter Water. If you have any concerns about work occurring on site, please call Diona's 24hr community liaison number 1300 13 13 18.

The water main in this area is approximately 100 years old and was due to be replaced over the coming years. Because this main has recently broken a number of times, sections in Bourke and Fitzroy Street have been replaced at the same time as the stormwater culvert repair is undertaken. This will reduce the inconvenience to residents in the future, as further construction work will not be required.

Before work is completed for Christmas, the road surface will be temporarily resealed to minimise dust. This is only a temporary seal. When the project is completed, expected to be in March 2019, the road will be resurfaced and resealed.
